My name is Andrew Lawless, bestselling author and Founder of the High Performance Consultant Academy™. I’ve been where you are, and it's my mission to guide independent consultants like you to not just survive, but thrive, by scaling their businesses and infusing vibrancy back into their lives.

We desire the comfort and peace of mind that comes with financial stability and efficient, streamlined operations. It reduces stress and allows us to focus on other aspects of our lives. Because started our own business to own that feeling of personal well-being, which includes not just financial health, but also physical, mental, and emotional health.

Why I am in

Around 18 years ago, I worked at the World Bank, rubbing shoulders with the world's elites. It was a dream job that eventually lost its shine as I grappled with internal politics and the disillusionment of not making a difference in the world. When I had to prioritize an office plant over my actual work, I knew my red line had been crossed. I decided to leave, despite the financial stability, health insurance, and perceived security.

It wasn’t an easy ride. As I established my consulting business, the 2008 financial crisis hit, and a minor accidental mortgage underpayment of $17 (seventeen dollars) plummeted my credit score. It started a financial tsunami with all banks lowering my available credit to what exactly I owed. With now maxed-out credit cards and no spare change for my son’s ice cream, I felt like I had hit rock bottom.

I could have dealt with every curveball thrown at me, but letting my son down almost crushed me. And then I read a quote by J.K. Rowlings, the author of Harry Potter. She said about her most enormous failure in life: ‘I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.’

Through these words, I found my true calling.

Inspired by J.K. Rowling's story of rebuilding her life from rock bottom, I embarked on a mission. I committed to creating a platform for consultants to change their life and businesses without risking their financial security. It became my purpose to ensure no one in my circle would go through the same ordeal.

I had the internet and a computer. I felt blessed that I can walk, talk, see, and use my mind. I made it a promise to myself, my son, and my girlfriend (and now wife and Love of My Life, Ann) that I will figure it out.

My mission became my purpose in life: No one I can work with will have to go through the same ordeal. Instead, they will have a framework, strategies, tools, and support to make life and career changes without losing their fortunes.

Every day now, I relish the opportunity to guide people toward a more fulfilling, vibrant, and connected life. My greatest joy comes from seeing students like Sinead, Mike, Val, Anna, Shelley, and Tsipa transform their lives and careers. They've gone from feeling miserable and scared to being fulfilled, vibrant, and connected with friends, family, and peers.

I even have had the honor to testify before the US Senate on the importance of professional development to US economic security and speaking to the White House about it.
