These conversation starters help you connect naturally with your loved ones

Remember that a truly healthy, happy Holiday is about being present in the moment.

We dine to connect with the people in our lives. The food is there to signify the importance of the event and also to make it easier for us to focus on the conversation.

Be present in the moment with loved ones. We never know when it will be the last time that we meet someone.

We lose on another. Life throws curve balls.

So, cherish the moment of being together by focusing on the people in your life.

Get to know them better, ask the question you always wanted to ask.

Here are some sample questions that work all the time:

  • What are you most excited about right now?
  • What have you learned from this experience?
  • What is not perfect yet?
  • What are you willing to do to make it the way you want it?
  • What are you willing to not do to make it the way you want it?
  • How can you enjoy the process?

Focus on the conversation. Get to really know what is going on in the person whom you are speaking to.

When you speak...

How to respond when you hear your calling

There must be more to life than this. That's what I thought over 15 years ago when I was looking down from the balcony of my corner office at the World Bank.

And then my hero's journey began: I received a call to go on an adventure and left. No other job offer. No particular plan. But a boss who was very supportive.

Little did I know at the time that the hero's journey includes a time where s/he must survive a succession of trials.

I had a few. Separation, divorce, mounting debt, death of parents, major shoulder injury and surgery, a global financial recession, a few crazy girlfriends, a few more heartbreaks.

And sometimes I feel that the ultimate boon, the achievement of the goal of the quest, is still not within reach. I am still waiting for that freedom from the fear of death, which in turn is the freedom to live. Living in the moment, neither anticipating the future nor regretting the past.

So, is the Hero's Journey worth it?

The only one thing that really changes your life

Philosophizing. I changed yesterday.

There is only one thing that changes your life. Only one: Something new enters.

For some of us, this may mean a crisis, such as a pandemic, recession, illness, death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job.

For others, it means a new relationship, a new job, a new business opportunity, a new group of friends, a new hobby, a new coach.

For most of us, these things happen almost by accident.

We call it fate, karma, serendipity, coincidence, luck.

But luck does not shower onto us like rain.

We are like dynamos, and we generate luck, opportunity, serendipity, karma, and even coincidences.

Yesterday, I changed a peer group and started working with a new coach.
Losing the peer group and my previous coach was hard. Not easy at all.

But that is the thing.

Way too often we stay in a relationship for far longer than we should.
We stay in a job way beyond our...

Your spouse/partner does not support your idea. Now what?

Does your significant other fully support you in pursuing your dreams? If not, here is what you can do about it.

I am sharing this with you because too often my female clients are frustrated about their loved ones actively discouraging them from making a bold move in their careers – especially when it involves starting their own business.

My first piece of advice is always to see it from their perspective.

Loved ones actively discourage us from taking risks because they love us.

They fear for our health, safety, and financial well-being.

This has happened to me a few times, even by my mentors.

Before I traveled to Arizona last year to get certified in Brendon Burchard’s Certified High Performance Coaching, my mentor wrote to me:

“Please think long and hard before you invest in spending time with Brendon Burchard, could you get him to pay you for your time? I think you would have a lot to teach him. He is not a world expert in adult development from what I see...

Have a business Idea? Validate it in 5 minutes.

Am I the only one who has crazy business ideas all the time - and then someone else turns them into money?

I have always had the idea to sell Irish rainwater to Americans.

Makes total sense to me.

Rain is a never-dwindling resource on the emerald island, and Americans are crazy about everything Irish.

Turns out, trying to sell rainwater did not go so well for the Irish Rain Water Company who beat me to the punch in 2016.

Their website is down, and their Facebook business page amassed a whopping 21 likes.

In another case, Paul O'Flynn also had the same idea and even received an innovation grant from Enterprise Ireland, you know, the government organization responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises, which turned down the Stripe founders, Patrick and John Collison.

So, I am not the only crazy one here.

But O'Flynn's Kickstarter campaign ended on June 29, 2018, because only eight people backed the idea.

It raised only 2.6% of the needed capital to get this...

How to make seven figures as a coach

The business coaching market was estimated to be worth more than $15 billion in 2019, up by 5.6 percent compared to the previous year.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The global thought leader market, which mainly includes online coaching and digital learning, is expected to reach a combined value of more than $325 billion by 2025.

Think about it: Not every athlete has a coach, but all Olympians do.

Professionals all around the world are now learning from these elite athletes the power of high performance coaching in business.

How can you thrive in this expanding industry?

You may be thinking that you will need coaching certifications. But that is not necessarily true.

That's why I have created a 5-Day Challenge to kickstart your thought leader business. It will help you unlock your money-making idea coaching, consulting or teaching online.

Because coaching students have learned that focusing solely on a coach’s certification is a grave...

This one simple exercise makes everybody want you (sort of)

Have you ever not felt the pull at work and wanted to find new opportunities?

Here is a simple exercise on how you can reflect the most authentic and best you to the world and make everybody want you.

Let’s do an activity that I call High Performance Habit.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths....

Now think of three words that might describe your ideal self. Three words that would describe the best of you are or could be.

For example, my three words are conditioned, challenging, and role-modeling. Because I need to be in great physical and mental condition every time I coach my clients. My job is to challenge them to grow faster and rise taller than they would ever do on their own. And I need to be a good example because no one believes the message if they don’t believe the messenger.

So think about three words that describe who you are, how you need to show up in life, what actions you need to take consistently to get results, and the values and principles...

How to leave your job to start a business

Do you want to leave your job right now but have not figured out how to make the transition?

I am going to share with you three strategies that help you move forward with more certainty and confidence.

The wrong way of leaving your corporate job and starting to do what you love is to burn your boats.

I know many of my colleagues promote that approach. But I am more on the side of safeguarding your physical, mental, and financial well-being.

To do that, you will need to build three things:

  • Create a product or service that people want
  • Generate traffic to your shop or shopping cart
  • Deliver your product or service

What I want you to avoid, though, is that you leave your corporate job only to find out that either or neither of these things are broken and then you lose your business and savings.

So, imagine this scenario. What if you knew in advance what the market really wants, you had proof that your sales process works, and you felt certain that you can deliver what you...

The #1 reason why you are not more productive

I have learned from coaching a wide variety of people, from CEO to interns, that the hardest workers often feel overwhelmed, NOT because they cannot set priorities, but because they have too many competing interests.

They want to make one more important call or finish one last task before they go home. But that extra effort comes at a cost, like spending quality time with kids before bedtime.

Or they skip the gym to accommodate a key client, but when they do this too often, they stress over their overall health or weight gain.

All four interests are equally important: Bringing in the money, making clients happy, staying vibrant and healthy, and connecting with the kids.

The reality is that there are only so many hours in a day. And overwhelm or a sense of being overloaded set in when we overspend them at work.

These feelings are signals that prompt you to reevaluate what is most important to you. Every emotion is a call to action.

When you feel overwhelmed or overloaded, your...
